There are various available effective strategies to treat depression. Doctor Andrea Furlan explains the 5 strategies to combine in order to treat depression very quickly. The sooner the patient is diagnosed and starts treatment, the better. The 5Ps represents 5 strategies, and it is easier to remember: The first P is for your plate, the food that you eat influence your mood, The second P is for your pillow, how you sleep influence your mood, The third P is for Physical exercises, The fourth P is for pills, in this case, antidepressant medications: tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs), SSRIs, SNRIs and atypical anti-psychotics.
