GARDEN TOUR : EARLY MAY 2022

I've recorded this tour earlier than last year, as if I left it any later, the blue wisterias would have faded. The many azaleas and rhodos are only just starting to come out. This is a small garden by most standards, 85ft long, a bit more than half, 18ft wide, the rest 30ft wide. The wire fencing around the azaleas to the side of the patio is to prevent the cats getting in there and attempting to pounce on the blackbirds and other small birds who use the ground feeder I made. We did have a small pond, but I filled that in last year as we have a hedgehog I rescued last May. He was a young one and had collapsed on our front lawn with dehydration. He has a house under the azaleas to the side of the patio behind the wire fence. There's a couple of places he can get through to his feeding station we have on the patio. See the previous video. At the moment the white wisteria on the garage pergola won't be out for another week. I've continued to try to get it it to "cascade" as do the blue ones on either side of it. But it's resisting, hopefully. it will do better next year. We've added some more clematis along the long border and to the side of the garage. Lots of bud on those, there's over a dozen around the garden. The lawn has been a pain this year despite scarifying it in a dry spell a couple of months back, several bare patches and it is only now just starting to recover. We've 14 roses in ceramic pots, that appear to be in much better shape than they were last year, far more buds. They suffered from a late frost in 2021 which put them back a few weeks. They may be worth a video later in the year. We replaced the fence panels between the shed and the tea-house, last month. The only noticeable change since last year..
