He's having a scratch here. This is his feeding station, but his house is under the azaleas in the side border about 12ft away. This was in September, he was already putting on weight ready for the winter, but now he's hibernating, He's curled up in his house and has blocked up the entrance with some hay. There's always some dried food and water available for him, if he gets a bit peckish and comes out on a warmer day, as they sometimes do. We found him in late May late one Friday night collapsed on our front lawn, he was neither able to curl up or stand, so would have been unable to defend himself. I think he was dehydrated, he was quite small. We put him in our back garden under some azaleas with some water and food close by. I checked on him the following day and he was curled up in a ball, so was on the mend. I left him more food and water. The following day, he'd disappeared, so we didn't know what had happened to him. But on Sunday night we looked out of the French windows and saw him a few feet away drinking water from one of the several plastic pot movers with a pot with roses in them. So I gave him some more food. But he'd probably already found some slugs or whatever. At first he made a home under our summerhouse, my trail camera picked him up going under it. But we bought him a proper house which he found after a couple of days and moved in. He seemed quite happy patrolling the whole garden every night and turned up at his feeding station for his dinner every night as soon as started to get a bit dark.
