In this video I explain how to draft the pattern for the Louis Vuitton-inspired scuba dress, the first dress in my festive season mini series.
You will see me make a mini-version of the pattern which you can recreate at home to scale.
If you don't have a bodice block to begin with, create your own with the help of this blog post tutorial (unsponsored): https://inthefolds.com/blog/2016/2/22/how-to-draft-a-bodice-block
To draft the pattern you will need:
- Pencil/Sharpie
- Pattern master and measuring tape
- Craft paper (baking sheet roll also works)
- Paper Scissors
To sew the dress you will need:
- 50 cm of scuba for the top part of the dress
- 1.5 meters of scuba for the bottom part of the dress in whatever colour you fancy
- 1 meter of printed silk (or other drapey fabric) for the sleeves
- A plastic (or metal) sweater zipper
- Matching thread for each colour of fabric you chose
- 2.5 meters of bias tape for the inside seams
