A quick experiment to test a ground effect vehicle wing design that we had devised using JavaFoil. The emphasis on our design was to set the pressure generated lift beneath the wing forward and the vacuum generated lift above the wing rearward, to make the wing travel at constant height above the ground without having to constantly adjust controls. This is about the simplest way we could build a test vehicle. It comprised the wing, a vertical fin, two supports at the front to set the angle of attack, a counterweight and a hook! It is launched using a piece of elastic taped to the floor and the adjustments we do the the nose counterweight are very fine, but have a strong effect in the Angle of Attach after launch. Afterwards, we measured the C of G and will use it that data on our model Hoverwing to help improve its stability.
