@whatchahowsya8688منذ 3 سنوات"oppa" simply is a term that means big brother. If you have a guy friend older than you and y'all close, you call him "oppa". It id="hidden2" class="buttons"> doesn't necessarily have any flirting or romantic connotations. Girls say "oppa" guys would say "hyung." To address older girls you'd say, "unnie" for girls and "nuna" for guys. (Word means older sister) It's to establish and signify close relationships. ....وسعت62

@forgotmyname9444منذ 3 سنوات “ How do you memorise that? I don’t know my shit, you have it on a paper for a reason”. 26
@
@ivy_taeمنذ 3 سنواتOppa is an honorific girls use for men who are older than them. Also, its a term of endearment as well. So, you wouldn't just call any random older id="hidden6" class="buttons"> guy oppa. Sisters call their older brother oppa, women call their older male friends oppa, even wives would call their husbands oppa if the they are older. Also, at , the reason she got so upset is because the kid was being racist. Jessi was the only Asian kid in her class so you can imagine how this must have felt when the other kid made racist gestures. ....وسعت21

@raejlwong4947منذ 3 سنواتthanks for explaining :) i was not sure about the ear sensor :) Jessi being herself is priceless love her to pieces.
@
@danijones8314منذ 3 سنواتSo in Korea respect is very important. You don’t refer to someone you don’t know by their name (unless they’re much younger/a child) you refer to them by their name + an honorific or just the honorific. While their are more formal honorifics for people who aren’t very familiar, terms like 형, 누나, 오빠, 언니 (hyung, nuna, oppa, unni) are used for anyone who is older than you but in the same age range. Hyung & nuna are used by men to mean older brother & sister while oppa, unni have the same meaning but are used by women. You would call your blood related older siblings by these terms but also friends/anyone friendly. Even most twins I’ve seen use these terms. You would only refer to someone older by just their name if you are very close friends/in a relationship. Generally the older is the one who sets the level of formality & can sort of decide if you drop honorifics in a friendship though not always. Oppa is special in that it is used as a term of endearment by girls toward their boyfriend/husband (even if the guy isn’t older) as a sort of cutesy pet name. It is still holds the same meaning as the other honorifics though. Note: the definition of “older” can be kind of confusing because of Korean age. For example, one person could be born in December of one year and the other in January of the next, but because of Korean age the one born in December would still be considered a year older. In this case they may still use honorifics but many wouldn’t. Hope that wasn’t too confusing, I understand it can be & I’m not the best at explaining. Note I’m not fluent in Korean. I’m only a mixed Korean-American so I’m not exactly an expert & I’m sorry for any mistakes! ....وسعت1
