Providing palliative and end-of-life care are essential skills for all health care providers. This webinar identifies the challenges for educators in teaching palliative care, and the challenges that PSWs (personal support workers) and HCAs (health care assistants) face daily in their chosen profession. As well, the challenges facing all health care providers are discussed. Life and Death Matters has solutions! We developed new resources and strategies for addressing the challenges faced by PSWs and their educators. The Second Edition of the textbook, "Integrating a Palliative Approach: Essentials for Personal Support Workers" addresses the new competencies for PSWs/HCAs (for Ontario and BC), and includes strategies to train and retain these vital health care providers in their chosen careers. In this webinar Kath Murray discusses: - Providing culturally safe palliative and end-of-life care, free of racism and bias - Preparing PSWs/HCAs to provide care - Building best practices in palliative and end-of-life care - Developing self-care practices to limit compassion fatigue and retain PSWs in the workforce
