Queensland has recorded two locally acquired cases in the past 24 hours. One of the new cases is a young casual receptionist worker from the Prince Charles Hospital, who works near the COVID ward. She recently visited Magnetic Island in North Queensland and was not vaccinated. As a result, the Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk says from 6pm tonight til 6pm Friday, southeast Queensland, Townsville, Palm Island and Magnetic Island will go into lockdown. The Premier says the case in the young hospital worker "leaves us with no option".
