Santa Barbara MTB / Cold Springs and Tunnels one the Gnarliest trails I have ever ridden 4/15/20

We had such a good time last time we rode Santa Barbara and we didnt get a chance to hit Tunnels. We kept hearing about how ganrly this trail is. We have been wanting to go back up. We figured we would head back up now while theres no traffic. We were warned that most people take DH bikes down this trail but we wanted to hit other trails so we took our Enduro bikes. We started with Cold Springs which is one of my favorite trails. We had a blast on it last time. Then we hit Tunnel, this trail definitely lived up to the hype its one of the gnarliest trails I have ever ridden. The rock garden is are giant boulders and these sections go on for miles. It is extremely tech and steep. Both Johnny and Chris cut their sidewalls on Tunnel, they were both running Maxxis EXO casing. We threw a tube in Johnny's tire but since Chris had Cush Core and the stans sealed most of the tear he just added air and rode the rest of the way down with a slow leak. We went into town and found a bike shop where Chris bought a Maxxis with Double Down casing tire. After getting the rear tire on we headed back up to hit Cold Springs again. The second time was even better since we were a little more familiar with it. we got down to the bottom at 4:30pm and headed to down town Santa Barbara to eat. Since I only eat once a day usually around 2pm I was starving, most places were closed but we found a little family owned restaurant called California Pasta that we got food from. It was a long day but so worth it. It only took me about 2 1/2 hours to the base of the mountain I hope to get in one more trip to Santa Barbara before the lock down is lifted and the freeways will be gridlocked again. Normally with traffic this drive would be about 3 1/2 to 4 hours each way. As I always say, the GoPro can never capture how steep and gnarly the trails are. These are both legit double black diamond trails and only recommended for experienced riders.
