15 Badass Ocean Creatures That Eat Land Animals

There are many dangerous predators swimming in the world’s oceans, rivers and lakes and we don’t worry about them that much, unless we’re in a boat somewhere. Well, think again. Believe it or not, some of these predators are capable of hunting on land. Have you ever heard of the killifish? What about the European Wells Catfish which has been known to eat pigeons? Orcas are not hunted by any other predator except for humans. Watch this orca open its mouth and grab this bird. What did the bird expect? For the orca to say hi! Killer whales eat a variety of prey, including fish, seals, sea birds, and squid, among other things. They can also consume whales that are bigger than themselves, such as minke whales, and they are the only species that has been known to eat great white sharks. Orcas capture prey using a variety of methods. They sometimes beach themselves to capture seals onshore, leaping from the water to the ground. Watch as this orca glides onto the shore and snatches a seal. It’s amazing how it can do this without worrying about getting stuck and not being able to get back into the water. It’s just nuts how easy it is for the orca to do this. It just boggles my mind how this other orca is practically on the beach killing this seal in this sequence. By the amount of blood in the water, we know the seal is injured, but why didn’t it try to walk onto the land where the orca couldn’t go? I have to say I’m really impressed by such huge animals demonstrating such skill. European Wells Catfish Nature has an uncanny ability to surprise us. We are often sent back to the drawing board as soon as we believe we have a clear picture of something. Many of these occurrences happen on Earth in the most unlikely of places. And, as the number of handheld cameras that can capture unusual footage in a matter of seconds grows, we are increasingly seeing that nature is not as predictable as we believe it is. In this video, a group of pigeons seems to be enjoying a nice weekend barbecue, but they have no clue an intruder is about to crash the party and not just any intruder. It’s the good catfish who is coming to make the guests part of his dinner. Pigeons are supposed to be smart, but I guess they had no clue, this cool cat was in the area. The ‘European Wels catfish‘ was first introduced in the 1980s by fishing enthusiasts searching for a new way to spice up their angling trips. It has since spread like wildfire through dry soil across southern Europe. However, “pigeon hunting” has only been found in Tarn. Catfish are primitive aquatic animals, but their exceptional adaptability places them at the top of the food chain in many freshwater ecosystems. This predator has traditionally lived in the muddy and dark waters of its home, where it feeds on worms, crustaceans, mussels, and sometimes dead fish. Catfish can develop and mature more quickly as a result of their high protein diet, reaching lengths of over a meter when all is said and done. As a result, it’s not unusual for young water birds or other small animals to vanish in a splash into the depths of rivers and lakes. To get close enough to their prey, the Well’s catfish relies on stealth. Then it opens its enormous mouth near or under its victim. Since this draws water in, the target is unable to stop being drawn in alive and swallowed whole — not a pleasant way to go. This next clip shows you another catfish approaching the shoreline, hoping to munch on pigeons. It’s not always successful on the first try, but it eventually gets what it came for. It’s time to heat up the barbecue and have a “pigeon soufflé”.
