'X is the everything app': Elon Musk 'bids adieu' to Twitter

X Corp owner Elon Musk has has explained why he "bid adieu" to Twitter and rebranded the social platform to 'X', almost one year since acquiring the platform. "Twitter was acquired by X Corp both to ensure freedom of speech and as an accelerant for X, the everything app," the 52-year-old wrote. Mr Musk also said the Twitter name no longer "makes sense". "The Twitter name made sense when it was just 140 character messages going back and forth … but now you can post almost anything … the Twitter name does not make sense in that context."
