Reballing Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 DUAL-X - R9 280X GPU With Homemade BGA Rework Station And Low Cost Equipment. This video is showing you how to repair graphics cards AMD-ATI Radeon or Nvidia with BGA problem. Why Reballing ? The graphics chip is soldered to the board with hundreds small solder balls (BGA) and one or more solder joints crack with time due to the thermal cycle which creates thermal stress (contraction and expansion https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermal_stress) and the graphics card stops working, old thermal paste or paste with bad heat conductivity and clogged cooler increase the thermal stress, with this procedure we replace the solder balls and resolder the chip to the board and the graphics card works again. I prefer reballing over reflow because reflow is not a long term solution and the black screen or artifacts will return again soon, reballing is more reliable and is the preferred GPU repair method. @dalieuمنذ 3 سنوات I have watched lots of videos of people disassembling graphics cards and heat gunning their GPUs, but this is the only channel I have seen someone desolder id="hidden4" class="buttons"> a GPU and then reball it on a homemade reballing station. This video is amazing and I am impressed (and I'm not easily impressed). Huge respect to your abilities. ....وسعت

@snowstar3560منذ 3 سنوات You guys want to know how to prevent BGA balls from cracking or detaching on a GPU? Just water cool the card or get a massive heatsink or save and spend id="hidden5" class="buttons"> a bit more on third-party GPU with beefy coolers, that way you avoid the condition that causes the aforementioned problem and reballing in the first place, thermal cycle/stress. ....وسعت 3

@MrLukealbaneseمنذ 4 سنوات Nik, these videos are fantastic. Let me ask you though, is there a reason that you prefer the solder balls to using solder paste with the stencils?
  • @
@salsabilhana9445منذ 6 سنوات you are really a pro Nik, salute.. by the way why you have to remove the stencil while it still hot, what happen if we remove it when become cool, does it will sticky? (from my experience before) or any reason?

@Joligo60منذ 6 سنوات Hello Nik, how are you? I really appreciate your videos. I would like to ask about the profile you use. I believe that your profile sets some target temperatures id="hidden8" class="buttons"> and that to reach them you use different ramps. How many seconds do you stay in each target temperature reached? or you go straight from room temperature to the final profile temperature. Hugs. (I'm in Brazil). ....وسعت

@GeorgeGeorge-xj2bcمنذ 6 سنوات One question about the upper heating temperature.Maybe 225 celsius in needed the solder to melt but these boards are monsters and the chip is under metal id="hidden12" class="buttons"> casing so i never have managed to desolder a chip in that temperature without going up to 260 C or little more in many cases.Machine is IR6000. ....وسعت
