Gravity Powered Boat Improved

I decided to make a gravity powered boat for no particularly good reason. It ended up too big for my bath and the paddle was not very effective. David Peeters suggested turning the paddle wheel around and that has improved it's performance. I still think a bigger wheel would be better. Just found this video on YouTube with the same principle /watch/MQ47drqr4Iwr7 The 'paddle wheel' I used came from a solar vent featured in this video /watch/V6Xs1RrOqVl2elEJLAgrG1BrSRPx2a5ALP=tsil?gwbOW0f9Eav9s Watching the video back I can see the wheel is working like an impeller (which is what it is) it is pulling water in from the side of the wheel and forcing it out through the vanes. Most visible from around 2:20 I don't think it was very successful and if I wanted this boat to go better I would make my own paddle wheel next time. It would slow the descent of the weight due to the increased resistance in the water and would travel further. Obviously there would be an optimum paddle size for the weight used to get the maximum distance or speed depending on what the target was. I think we can call this project just one of those 'proof of concept' ideas.
