Have you ever had akkhi masoor dal? It’s extremely healthy, tastes delicious and super simple to make! Ingredients I used: - 2 tbsp oil - 6 to 7 big cloves of garlic - 1 medium sized onion, finely chopped - 1 and 1/2 medium sized tomato, finely chopped - 1 green chilli (optional) - 1 cup masoor dal + water (for soaking) - salt - 1/4 tsp turmeric - 1/2 to 1 tsp red chilli powder - 1 and 1/2 tsp coriander powder - 1 tsp cumin powder - 1/2 tsp garam masala - water as needed - coriander leaves for garnish (optional but recommended) Procedure: - Soak masoor dal in sufficient water for 2 hours. - Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add garlic. Sauté well till garlic has turned golden. - Add onions, green chilli and fry well till onions then brown. - Add tomatoes and mix well. Fry till tomatoes are well cooked. - Add salt, turmeric, red chilli powder, coriander powder and cumin powder. Mix well. - Add masoor dal and mix well. - Add water as required and garam masala and cook till the dal turns mushy. - Garnish with coriander leaves. Enjoy!
