July 7th, 2021 Ad For the Sixth Season of Animal Kingdom on the Back of Life & Style Magazine, For Sale at Walmart on Dewey Avenue in Greece, New York, July 7th, 2021 I think Ellen Barkin's character, Smurf, was killed off. I haven't seen an episode of this since she had cancer or whatever she had. Anyway, this show will always have a darkness to it for me. The tirst time I ever saw it was one of the worst times in my life. I'd started a new job that I knew I wasn't going to stay at. Rebecca and I were broken up and I felt so alone. I was at a Wegmans warehouse. I was going to unload trucks. I knew an hour in I wasn't in shape for a job like this. I've never operated a forklift, either. You had to use a pallet jack, unload the pallet, unwrap the saran wrap from it, inspect it, then rewrap it in saran wrap. Whenever I wrapped it, it wasn't very tight. But like I said, I knew I wasn't coming back. I was facing eviction so it only exasperated my fears of homelessness. It was a really bad time. So, I was in the breakroom, and I saw these opening credits for a show I'd never heard of. Animal Kingdom is one of those shows where they say "shit" a lot and they'll maybe say "fuck" like once a season. In the opening credits, there's a lot of stock footage of people doing "extreme" things. What I remember most is a brief clip of a baby being breastfed. For whatever reason, that image made an impression on me. A year later, when I was working for George, he and Mary watched Animal Kingdom and I finally got to see the show and that part of the opening credits. It didn't actually show up until the second season opening credits. Hopefully it'll be in the sixth season opening credits.
