If you're a coffee nerd like me you may have noticed that most cafes featuring pour-overs choose Hario V60s as their brewer of choice. You may have also heard people gushing over the Kalita Wave but barely ever a mention of a Melitta brewer. There's something about the Japanese pour-over systems that makes them a coffee lover's go-to tool. But why?
In this video we will unpack that question. To understand how the coffee world got to this point we'll have to look at the past 100 years of coffee history. It a wild ride, and perhaps a little meandering, but hopefully you can enjoy these ramblings. We'll touch on Japanese kissaten, the dawn of espresso bars in the USA, percolators, Mr. Coffee machines, and more.
