'This posture is from a powerful and therapeutic yoga series also referred to as 26 & 2, Original Hot Yoga or the Bikram Yoga Method. Yoga tradition says the that breath carries a person’s life force. Originating from the words "Prana" meaning life force and "Yama" meaning control, Pranayama is a formal practice of controlling the breath to reduce stress, calm the mind, and connect with our higher self. Pranayama is the first posture in an OHY class that warms up the body and get you ready for your practice ahead. The breath is inhaled through the nose and exhaled through the mouth. Practicing this posture will allow you to find concentration and also will improve your lung capacity. Here's how we perform Pranayama: 🧘🏻‍♀️ Bring your feet together and interlock your 10 fingers, thumbs cross over. Place your hands underneath your chin. 🧘🏻‍♀️ Inhale and lift your elbows up, suck your stomach in. 🧘🏻‍♀️ Exhale through your mouth and bring your elbows forward to touch. 🧘🏻‍♀️ Inhale bring your chin down with a straight spine. 🧘🏻‍♀️ Exhale, hands touch, forearms touch, elbows touch. You should feel a gentle vibration in the back of the throat throughout the posture. Check out the video for the complete demo of this posture!
