He is one of the 6 most serious cases in Vietnam to date. His wife, also a COVID-19 patient, was discharged from the same hospital on April 2. Expressing special thanks for Vietnamese doctors who saved their lives, he said on April 13 they might have not survived if they had stayed in the UK. Dixong John Garth, 74, and his wife, Shan Coralie Barker, 67, were diagnosed with the deadly #SARSCoV2 virus after flying the VN54 flight to Vietnam from the UK on March 2. Gareth was one of the first critical cases in Vietnam that needed to be put on a life support machine.
