A "trimet" is a little solarpowered "BEAM" robot, and it will move around whenever enough power has been collected from the solar cell. This is how to make one! For those wondering, BEAM (Biology, Electronics, Aesthetics, and Mechanics) is a type of robot that, in short, has no brain, but will move using logic circuitry as if it had a mind of its own. the parts you need are: 3 Capacitors, a 2N3904, a 2N3906, a resistor, a solar cell (minimum 3 volts(i used two 2 volt cells in series)), a pager motor(or a vibrator). youll also need a blinking/flashing LED (FLED). you can find a schematic of the circuit here: http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2010/052/a/f/FLED_circuit_by_kattejuice.jpg EXPLANATION: The idea here is that when the FLED flashes (at about 2.4 volts), it conducts. This makes the base of the PNP transistor (here shown as a 2N3906, but you could also use a BC327) go "low," so it triggers, which makes the base of the NPN transistor (here shown as a 2N3904, but you could also use a BC337) go "high," and when it triggers, current is applied through the motor. Note that once the NPN transistor triggers, the FLED is essentially out of the circuit; the motor is then given power until the transistors go inactive at about 0.7 V. Note that you can replace the FLED with 5 or 6 diodes in series (trip voltage = 0.5V times number of diodes), or with 2 LEDs in series (trip voltage = 1.4V times number of LEDs) Music is "Da Funk" by Daft Punk Music in the end is the Jeopardy thinking song I do not own the music in this video.
