The Dhaman is a harmless snake and is really a farmer's friend, so do not kill Rat Snakes, please! A yellow Dhaman or Indian Rat Snake is filmed slithering over a log of wood in our Wilderness Orchard. Near a blooming Vinca flower the rat snake shows off its face and slithers away. The scales on the dorsal side and the patterns on the underside are seen up close. Indian Rat Snakes are common in Asia and they are a major pest controller in gardens. Their major prey are rats. They are non venomous snakes although they are mistaken as harmful due to ignorance.
