Illustrate Your Week and Life / Illustrated Journal (3)

During the year before I turned 50, I did a "50 Before 50" project. In part, it involved a list of 50 very carefully thought-out and selected things to do and an illustrated journal in which I tracked the "doing" of those things and recorded the year. As part of the illustrated documentation, I also drew a self-portrait each week. I have recorded videos of Journals 1 and 2, which go through that year. This video is a flip-through of sketchbook 3, which picks up just after that official year ended. I continued the weekly illustrated journal and also the weekly self-portraits. The illustrated journal process grew into the #illustrateyourweek project that I do as part of the Creativity Matters Podcast. I have offered hundreds of prompts over the last year for people keeping illustrated journals. That process and prompt set started during the span of this journal. In this journal, there is a heavy grid format, lots of black-and-white drawings and an increasing use of colored fountain pen ink in the backgrounds and fill-in. This journal includes #30inks30days (which I misspoke when I referred to it) and #inktoportraits (the custom alternate prompt set I used for drawing in October last year instead of #inktober). Please note: This journal was recorded/drawn/created during the pandemic. Oh no! I recorded this several weeks ago before a family visit, and in my attempt to be sure I got the recording done, I forgot to grab a pair of my awesome arm warmers. I considered restarting (that day) or redoing it entirely (as I've watched and edited it now several weeks later). But, I'm letting it ride, mitt-less. The Sketchbook: The journal I used for this project is the Moleskine Art Sketchbook, A4. The paper takes fountain color very well. Alcohol markers do bleed through. The paper is off-white.
