Can painting 2% of the Earth white stop global warming?
Scientists at Purdue University have developed a super white paint that reflects 98% of incoming light. According to Jeremy Munday, a professor from the University of California, if 2% of the Earth’s surface were painted with this white paint, the amount of light reflected back into space would sufficiently reduce the heat absorbed by the planet, and stabilize global temperatures. 2% of the Earth is slightly larger than the total land area of the United States. Do you think this could work?
