Lebanon’s prime minister announced his government’s resignation on Monday, saying a huge explosion that devastated the capital and stirred public outrage was the result of endemic corruption. The Aug. 4 detonation at a port warehouse of more than 2,000 tonnes of ammonium nitrate killed at least 163 people, injured more than 6,000 and destroyed swathes of the Mediterranean capital, compounding months of political and economic meltdown. Demonstrations broke out again in central Beirut, with some protesters hurling rocks at security forces guarding an entrance leading to the parliament building, who responded with tear gas. Crystal Goomansingh has more. @IstanbulBeautyOneمنذ 4 سنوات Lebanon’s problem is confined to three main points:
1️⃣ First is the "muhasasa" or the quota system, meaning the division of power. span id="hidden3" class="buttons">r />2️⃣Second is the electoral system based on sectarian loyalty.
3️⃣Third is the independence of the Judiciary. Therefore, comprehensive change is imperative to end the quota system and change the electoral system to be based on programs, promises and accountability. Finally, the impartially elected authority legislates a law that guarantees Judicial independence

@JOE-bm9oqمنذ 4 سنوات At least they stepped down when asked to. That's how the rule of the people should work. The Lebanese people could've got far worse, a government id="hidden4" class="buttons"> for example, not stepping down when asked to and instead just becomes more power hungry and will resort to even killing their own people just to keep their spots. It's happened so much across the world so this case certainly is the good exception, not the rule. ....وسعت

Well I guess if they id="hidden10" class="buttons"> quit there job, no charges are necessary. Just brush your hands of that one and retire to a tropical island with the benefit of years of corruption. - If we want things to change, people need to be held accountable, and not just a fall guy/gal or two. This is the same in all countries, with politicians, police, ect. Peace all ! ....وسعت

@napoleonaquino9347منذ 4 سنوات There's a new recipe for government change in town. First add 2 to 3 juicy dumplings of corruption scandal into the boiling pot. Stir gently and let id="hidden11" class="buttons"> the scandal simmer for 2 to 3 months. Then add a few ounces of government cover up to add flavor to the soup. Stir further and let the public frustration boil up. Lastly add the final ingredient - a major disaster of biblical proportions that kills many and renders thousands homeless. Then you have instant change in leadership !! For our next recipe, we have the Three Gorges Delight. First we need a dam in China
add 2 or 3 dumplings of massive rainfall and flooding .etc.
