Number 3 ASUS Chromebook C223 Wasting no time here, our first spot on this list comes in at $185, the most affordable laptop from ASUS, and possibly the most affordable laptop I’ve seen from any major brand, the ASUS Chromebook C223 is ultra-light at 999 grams, and ultra-portable at 11.6” making it smaller than a sheet of A4 paper! The dual core Celeron processor is about what you’d expect for less than 200 bucks, it’s exactly powerful enough for taking notes in class, checking emails, researching on the internet - sometimes you literally just need a functional computer for the most basic tasks, and that is the C223. As this is a Chromebook you will of course be relying on cloud storage, most likely Google Drive, due to the cost-saving 32GB hard drive, but for many students this native app integration and security will bring great peace of mind, just like the spill-resistant keyboard which will hopefully survive a morning coffee mishap or two. Number 2 ASUS VivoBook 14 The ASUS VivoBook 14 hits a sweet spot in price to performance, while being just $400 - $500 the specs are all comfortably above necessity, and somewhat into gaming laptop territory. Pairing a 14” FHD IPS 85% screen to body ratio display with a Ryzen 5 3500 (or even Core i7) CPU, MX350 graphics chip, 8GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 256GB SSD, means high end data transfer speeds and loading times, strong mid range laptop processing performance, and pretty standard mid range screen quality, for a low midrange price. I’ve emailed ASUS to ask them if their finger slipped when pricing this laptop, but no comment from them yet. This is one of the best budget laptops for students I’ve seen in a long time. Number 1 Acer Aspire 1 The Acer Aspire line of laptops are all pretty great value for money, and even as the most budget-friendly rung on that ladder, the Aspire 1 comprises 4GB of RAM and 64GB of SSD storage with Bluetooth 4.1 - nothing to rave about there, but enough for the purposes of this particular video. What’s more impressive is the 10 hour battery life, ideal for students using their laptop in class. And the 15.6” FHD display! The main drawbacks are the TN display technology, which doesn’t provide the color accuracy required for creative design work, and the combo of dual-core Intel Celeron processor and Intel UHD 600 integrated graphics, which isn’t suitable for gaming, but for just $274 this is the ideal choice for students on a budget studying most subjects - just not digital media based ones. ⏱ Timestamps: 0:00 - 0:05 Intro 0:06 - 1:09 ASUS Chromebook C223 1:10 - 2:03 ASUS VivoBook 14 2:04 - 2:56 Acer Aspire 1
