Guest: Atsushi Kaneko, Mangaka Places: Shimokitazawa Club Que, Shimokitazawa Area Meguro River, Naka-Meguro Area Red Shoes, Minami-Aoyama Area Katsu Shimokitazawa, Shimokitazawa Area ゲスト カネコアツシ、漫画家 訪れた場所 下北沢CLUB Que、下北沢周辺 目黒川、中目黒周辺 レッドシューズ、南青山周辺 克ッ 下北沢、下北沢周辺 - Atsushi Kaneko is a mangaka known for his work on Bambi, Soil, Wet Moon or Deathco. With a singular style rallying strong influences that range from punk rock and cinema to lowbrow art, Kaneko created his own universe, with themes including rage, loss of control and an adversity against the world. His passion for cinema also led him to direct “Mushi”, a segment part of the anthology film “Rampo Noir”, where he leveraged his past mangaka experience, which in turn influenced his manga career onwards. Working completely alone, Kaneko will introduce us to his process and the balance he creates with his free time, as we followed him to a rock concert, one his DJ events or a dinner with friends, while he also tries to keep an open window on the world walking alongside Meguro river. - - Atsushi Kaneko on Twitter: https://twitter.com/kaneko_atsushi_ - Red Shoes Official Website: http://redshoes.jp

@HandleToBeDetermined5 years ago I'm so happy that Dororo is finally getting the attention it deserves in the recent animation and the reimagined adaptation by Atsushi Kaneko. It's definitely one of my most adored of Osamu Tezuka's works. 80

@xxjcd7022 months ago I can thank enough when mangakas are willing to show their faces and talk about their processes and influences when creating stories. Bambi is fun as hell and Soil is as legendary and memorable as cosmic horror can get, absolutely love Atsushi's work ...

@Dragonknight7615 years ago I've only read Wet Moon, but one can deduce a lot from this video. I think most mangaka around his generation want to express that feeling of high individuality with the " one against the whole world" quote. Also, I can see many similarities with mangakas in Naoki Urusawa's Manben where for example Inio Asano says that he wants to create never before seen images or how he loves the rock movement like Takahashi Tsutomu. Some interesting tidbits throughout the video were that he is a fan of A Clockwork Orange, which seems obvious once one considers his work, although usually people don't take into account western influences for mangaka; I didn't know that he was also involved with a movie (beside the cancelled Wet Moon). The video became really interesting for me when he is at the bar and talks with colleagues and friends. For example I didn't know that he was working on a Dororo manga (how strange). Also, I like the call backs to Terada and whoever reads this should check out this channel's video on him; but in consideration of Terada, when they mentioned Taiyo Matsumoto I feel like toco will/ should do a video on him since he has a new manga incoming. ... 42

@CanalDojogames3 years ago Archipel, you guys really rock! ;D
Its a thing that i also noticed when he says that his style changed while he change the theme of his mangas. I think its the vision we want. Like 3d when we create an atmosphere with an different render. Each render is destined to each vision you want and the atmosphere you want to show. If its dark, mistery or very raimbow,happy... ...

@demiremi5 years ago this was an interesting video, it was nice to see his origins. i also found it interesting how he is able to do such good art using an ipad, kinda reminded me of another artist named sae jin, who also used ipad for a time to make great works. another thing of note was learning a bit about dororo and how black jack got started, as well as he draws the hair first, i tend to do the same in my art. anyway nice video; keep up the good work! ... 21
