The Very Best Of Kylie Minogue

She was born as Kylie Ann Minogue in Melbourne, Australia. From an early age she appeared in small roles of TV soap operas. In 1986 she was cast for the series 'Neighbours' which achieved huge popularity in the UK. In 1987 she was signed to a record deal and her first single 'The Loco-Motion' spent seven weeks on top of the Australian Charts. In the UK she worked with producer trio Stock/Aitken&Waterman who wrote her single 'I Should Be So Lucky' which reached #1 in the UK as well as Australia, Germany and other countries. Her first album 'Kylie' was released in July 1988. 'Kylie' and her follow-up 'Enjoy Yourself' mostly consisted of bubblegum-dance-pop. But Kylie evolved and in the 90s a more mature Minogue appeared in her album 'Rhythm Of Love'. She changed record-companies in 1993 and her next songs gave a more indie-type vibe. She could not repeat the commercial success of the 90s though. In 2000 her 7th album 'Light Years' brought her back into the spotlight as the first song 'Spinning Around' reached #1 in the UK charts /the first time to do so in 10 years. In 2001 her album 'Fever' was released and with it the lead single 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head'. It exploded worldwide and reached #1 in 40 countries. Her album sold over 8 million times worldwide. In 2003 Kylie won her first Grammy for Best Dance Record for 'Come Into My World'. In 2005 she got diagnosed with breast cancer which she defeated and returned to the spotlight in late 2006. In 2010 she released her 11th album 'Aphrodite' which got her back into the higher chart-regions and she reached #1 in the UK exactly 22 years after her first album peaked. Kylie has now released over 70 singles, 15 studio albums (her newest album to be released in November) and many more live and compilation albums. She has sold an estimated 80 million records worlwide. She has been one of my favorite ever since I heard her first song in 1988 and therefore deserving of a Very Best of with 40 songs.
